Sunday 9th September 2012
With a blink of an eye, the roar of 50,000 people (none louder than when Belgium's Borlee twins crossed the 400m line in first & second), the breaking of the 110m men's hurdles world record, a huge party with Shaggy & Usain taking turns on stage & some light-hearted late night reminiscing, the curtain came down on the 2012 Diamond League this Friday night in Brussels.

It was a fitting night to end this year's competition on & in keeping with the last half of her season, Perri (Shakes-Drayton) maintained her consistency to finish second behind Kaliese Spencer in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.89, which was the performance of the night for the British athletes.

The overall performance of the night, however, was undoubtedly Aries Merritt's awesome destruction of Dayron Robles' 110m hurdles world record with a time of 12.80 seconds.  Even British hurdler, Lawrence (Clarke) had to remark that he spent his race admiring the performance from the adjacent lane to the right.

To commemorate such a busy but memorable season for me as a sports physiotherapist, I am giving away a Brussels Belgacom Diamond League t-shirt, signed by all the GB athletes that were in Brussels (including Perri Shakes-Drayton, Christian Malcolm, Lawrence Clarke, Lawrence Okoye & Chris Tomlinson) in addition to a select few other athletes, including the legendary 100m athlete, sprint star Kim Collins.

I will award the prize on 21st September 2012 to the person who offers, what I judge to be, the best reason (written below) as to why they should win it!  This can be funny, factual, charitable or inspirational.

Please leave your email address/Twitter name/Facebook name/LinkedIn profile so that I can arrange delivery.

Now it's time for me to have a day of relaxation to recover...In Bruges!!!
