After a relaxed morning in Westport I boarded the Port Jefferson Steam Boat Company Ferry from Bridgeport to Port Jefferson on Long Island. I am visiting Sea Cliff to stay with my good friend, Toni Blacklock.  Toni is a truly inspiring colleague with whom I collaborated during her time working as a podiatrist, pushing boundaries in Edinburgh before emigrating to the USA.  She is now juggling time as a mum (Bella is just about to celebrate her second birthday!) & a new career as custom shoe designer, so I am really excited to be stopping by for 2 nights.

The hour or so journey gave me time to ponder & reflect on the last few days & also read a paper or two. I am reading a few on occlusion training at the moment, so check back over the next few days & I will put a bit of a summary up here once I have read a few more papers.

It also gave me chance to read a few reports on the Mason Raymond injury which I discussed on Tuesday. Unfortunately, it appears my first impressions were confirmed & the Canucks released a somewhat brief press release stating that Mason sustained a vertebral compression fracture in the incident (http://canucks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=565784).

As it was the Canucks headed into the final game of the Stanley Cup series against Boston needing to continue their unbeaten record at home to secure their first NHL Championship win. Once again, however, the big guns didn't rise to the occasion & Boston secured the series with a comfortable 4-0 win in the Canucks back yard...not something that went down too well with certain members of the Vancouver Hockey fraternity.
