The onslaught continues!  After a hectic morning, I have just headed back to the team hotel for a quick bite of lunch & a brief respite.  Meanwhile, Jazmin has stayed at the track as the long jump competition went on for hours!  Will, on the other hand continues to cover events in the field to ensure you guys don't miss a thing...that's dedication for you & here's his story of the day so far...

Jazmin Sawyers (coach: Tony Williams) was the only member of the Aviva Great Britain and Northern Ireland team in action this morning and she produced two solid performances to keep her in contention for a medal with only one event, the 800m, left in the programme.

Sawyers's 6.10m long jump was the best performance of all competitors and helped her to fourth position after five events, her points total up to 4155. In the last event of the morning session, javelin throw, the City of Stoke athlete set a new PB with a 28.02m distance, allowing her to approach the final event in a close fifth position with 4594 points and within range of a new personal best.

The afternoon session is full of promise for the British team, with five athletes in a quest for medals and two more involved in semi-finals. Lucy Bryan (Neil Winter) is first out on the field as she competes in the Pole Vault at 4:05pm, followed by the 200m pair of Desiree Henry (Mike McFarlane) and Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake (Elton Coombs) in the semi-finals at 4:10pm and 4:40pm respectively.

Finals return in earnest with simultaneous action on both track and field at 5:45pm: Hayley McLean (Steve Mitchell) takes on the 400m hurdles after her stunning semi-final of two days ago, when she set a new PB (58.74s) worth the second best time in the overall standings, while Louisa James (Ron James) and Kimberley Reed (Alan Bertram) compete in a mouth-watering hammer throw final. The two British athletes set the third and sixth best distances in qualification and will look at the possibility of coming home with medals.

Finally, Georgia Peel (Mick Woods) takes to the track at 6:15pm for the 1500m final after putting in some impressively controlled performances in the early rounds.
